Bernard Matthews switches water suppliers to reduce water costs.
Great News ! Turkey farmer Bernard Matthews chose Scottish Water Business Stream and becomes the first company in England to switch water supplier to a Scottsh Water Company with a 3 year deal with Business Stream to reduce water costs.
Water and waste water provider Business Stream will enter the Engliah water market when full retail competion is introduced around 2017, although as with most government changes the date is not cast in stone.
Graham Mann from West Yorkshire based Water Consultants H²O Building Services comments ” This nis really great for the water industry, injecting real competition in the market is good for consumers, though water companies have a very long way to go from a customer service perspective, however we have been monitoring Scottish Water Business Stream and they are working very hard on the customer service front as they do not maintain networks or own supply pipes then they can focus on what really matters, value for money and customer service. There is a strong argument for splitting off English Water Companies whereby one company is the wholesaler and the other the retailer. As in Scottish Water are the wholesaler and responcible for supply networks and Business Stream the retailer, a far superieor way of working in our opinion”
The switch for Bernard Matthews from Essex and Suffolk Water to Business Stream took place in January this year.
