Copthorne Hotels – Water Cost Reduction
The Copthorne Hotel at Reading contacted H²O regarding substantial increase in water consumption and costs over the past 18 months, a very slow and steady increase was contributing to high charges.
A water audit was carried out by H²O projecting an unaccounted metered water loss of 55m3 per day, equating to £ 62 per day or £ 23,000 per annum.
H²O water leak detection team was sent to investigate and they carried out water leak detection techniques to external pipes and valves and discovered a faulty water softener in the plant room discharging clean water down into an overflow straight into the drain, this supply was isolated. Further losses were traced through water leak sounding techniques to a rising water main and valve, the leaking water was not visible which is the case in most leaks.
A few days later this water leak was repaired by H²O saving the hotel £ 23,000 per annum.
