DHL commission industry leading water consultants H²0 Building Services.

The water consultants at H²O Building Services were given a selection of sites by D.H.L to complete a water audit in order to verify if the charges were correctly levied.

Two sites had received substantial back charge claims and revised bills demanding back charges via the North West Water Company United Utilities. The back charges were paid by D.H.L however the historical water audit revealed that United Utilities were not entitled to levy a back charges after a certain time within the financial year and the notification letter demanding the back charge was sent 5 months too late, therefore the water company was not entitled to make substantial claims. This resulted in H²O demanding refunds on two sites in excess of £ 65,000.

Graham Mann Senior Consultant at H²O said ” The water company will have been well aware that they were past the deadline of March 31st and should not have demanded the back charge money. It is well known throughout the industry of this key date for both us making claims for refunds due to historical billing errors and water companies demanding back charges beyond key dates. We have no way of knowing how many customers have been back charged incorrectly but one is too many when you see the amount of money involved, this is probably only the tip of the iceberg.”
