Faulty underground water fittings can cause huge water losses and often go unnoticed until a water bill arrives.
How often do you check for water leaks on your water supply pipe? a substantial leak more often than not will show itself on a water bill, in this case an extra £ 60,000, a significant amount you may agree?.
In this instance a significant water bill was received which sparked an investigation, leak detection engineers were called into carry out an investigation across the entire water supply network. An inspector cover was lifted to reveal water turbulence due to a leaking mechanical plastic fitting on a 90 degree bend (photo 1), the chamber was pumped out to fully reveal the extent of the faulty fittings (photo 2 below)
Even modern water fittings fail over time and it pays to monitor daily and over night flow.
