Historical water audit leads to £15,000 refund due to water billing error by Yorkshire Water.

A national Hotel Group commissioned a historical water audit to all 22 locations nationwide, all previously levied charges were examined and one of the groups hotels in Leeds was surveyed as they were charged over £ 2,000 per year by Yorkshire Water for surface water area band charges based on the site area, this is for collection and disposal of rainwater from the site. A closer inspection of the drainage layout revealed all of the rainwater was discharged into a large lake, an application was submitted to Yorkshire Water and subsequently approved, cancelling all future charges and a refund cheque for £ 15,177.60 was also forwarded to the client. The results were savings going forwards of £ 2,000 per annum plus a refund of £ 15,177.60.
