H²0 Building Services launch on-line AMR water flow data logging service.

Over the last few years H²O Building Services have been trialing AMR water flow data loggers, there are numerous devices on the market, all claiming to be the best and most cost effective.

H²O have now launched the most cost effective data loggers (AMR) package in the UK, with today’s average supply and install cost some 50% less than anyone else!

Take a recent project for a large leisure company, 4 water meters on site to install data loggers to each water meter, transmit the water flow data to a web based flow monitoring system where H²O water experts will monitor the data and report back with recommendations to reduce water consumption and costs for 5 years £ 1,700 + VAT other comparable systems on the market would be an average of £ 3,500 and more, but certainly not much less.

What is the value of AMR water flow data logging?

Senior Partner of H²O explains the most accurate and cost effective way of identifying unaccounted water losses is installing a data logger, this device is fitted to the incoming water company revenue meter(s) all modern water meters produce a magnetic pulse say for each litre of water that is used the pulse is set through a pulse lead through to the data logger which stores the data, then at pre-set intervals sends this data via the phone network to a web-based data platform converting the data into a graphical and numerical display, as per actual project case example. :-

The flow clearly shows on the graph at 0.84m3 (cubic metres) per hour, it dosen’t look all that much, however this is the minimum continual flow, over a year this equates to 7,358m3, with water and waste water costs being £ 3.00 per m3 this is a £22,000 year cost!

We carried out a site survey and the water losses were identified and reported to the client, one area of water loss was a swimming pool make up supply valve which was left open in error and the other was a leak in the plunge pool, rectification works will be undertaken with the estimated costs for this at £ 2,000  with annual savings of £ 22,000.

In order to ensure any further water losses are identified immediately an alarm will be set on the AMR data logger, if the water consumption night-line exceeds “zero” for more than 30 minutes continually a message will be sent  to site with a recommendation for a site investigation, this way any leak or water loss will be rectified and dealt with within 24 hours so as to lessen any financial impact on the water charges.

The AMR data logger is a valuable tool in the water consultants armoury for identifying unaccounted water losses and preventing future water losses from impacting on the future water bills for years to come.
