Motorsport Vision enlist the services of water consultants H²0 Building Services to reduce water costs.

The water consumption for the race track at Oulton Park had nearly doubled to just under 11,000 m3 per year, albeit a very slow and steady increase in consumption and cost.

The water leak detection team at H²O Building Services attended site, identified the water meter supplying the site and recorded a continuous flow rate of 0.9m3 per hour. The underground supply pipes were traced and electronic water leak kit used across the vast network of water supply pipes but no leak noise was recorded, taking into consideration the size of the site this was very surprising.

Further tests were carried out paying particular attention to toilet facilities, the team noted there were no controls on the urinal preventing continuous flushing. All the urinals were turned off and flow rates on the incoming water meter were recorded at Zero proving that the suspected leak was in fact in efficient water use in the gents toilet areas which equated to a staggering 7,844m3 per year or nearly £ 20,000 per year.

By installing a few passive infra red urinal flush controls which will allow flushing only when the urinal is used substantial savings will be made with a payback of a few weeks.
