Water audit services provided to a national care home company identify £7,000 water company overcharge

Water audit services firm H20 Building Services score a direct hit with a new client, a large national residential care home company by identifying a £7,000 water company overcharge.

The deal is to provide a water bill validation and bureau service which incorporates construction of a past and present water database.

As each sites water billing data is loaded onto the system the water audit experts get to work auditing the separate elements of each charge which makes up the total water bill.

In this particular case the charges for surface water banded area charges levied by Severn Trent Water but billed and collected by Yorkshire Water were incorrectly applied.

Although the client was incorrectly charged the water company Yorkshire Water should be applauded for their fast turn around on the application and for the water rebate within 5 working days.

A spokesman for the water audit services firm H20 said: –  ” Over the last 12 months we have seen a marked improvement in timescales to our replies to water billing queries, certainly Yorkshire Water have got their act together on a customer services level, with very short reply timescales and cheques relating to water bill rebates received within days of approval. The service levels are certainly consistent and many other water companies could learn from their high service levels”.

H20 will continue to focus on any historical water company overcharges, sweeping across hundreds of properties for this client.

This is the very first stage of the water project, the next stage will be water procurement for the sites in Scotland and early indications are that the previous water audit consultants did not secure the best value deal. The estimated lost potential savings are around £60,000 over the period that the previous water consultants were engaged.

A clear demonstration that businesses should appoint water audit experts with a long track record and able to demonstrate expertise in all areas of water cost reduction.
