Water bill validation identifies water saving opportunities.

On going water bill validation identified water saving opportunities taking action to identify and correct the water loss is key to increases in water consumption impacting on water budgets.

Pizza Hut chose H²O Building Services to provide water bill validation in order to protect the water budgets, with some 300 sites across the Pizza Hut portfolio the high cost sites were soon identified, increases in consumption are recorded and an exception report is generated, not all high consumption issues are leaks as in the latest example actual; case study.

Cambridge Circus – Increase in water consumption identified, a site survey was instigated. The water meter located and reading 76364m3, the continuous flow was 11 litres per minute.                                                                                             Picture 1: Water meter

Further investigation revealed the ice making machine was faulty and discharging 3 litres per minute direct to drain and the water softner had a faulty solenoid valve which was also discharging water to drain, a combined waste of 11 litres per minute.

Equating to 5,782m3 per annum if allowed to continue and a bill value of £ 11,448 for water and waste water charges, the repair costs are a few hundred pounds.

Continual monitoring is a must to ensure wastage is kept to a minimum.
