Water Cost Reduction – The Importance of On-Line Flow Data Logging

We cannot stress the importance of installing an on-line data logging system enough, this is a vital tool in the water auditors armoury.

Visual internal and external surveys will not accurately quantify or indeed identify unaccounted water losses on site. Yes there is an up-front cost, however a water consultant  with good experience should easily be in a position to put the numbers together to justify the installation cost.

Without exception we have achieved the desired financial rewards on all of our recommendations as you can see from the graph via the link below, the base load night line that is continuous flow is 1.56 cubic metres per hour, this equates to 13,655 cubic metres per year at a cost of £ 35,000 and increasing.

Our web based flow monitoring system is without doubt the only way to quantify and identify water wastage, a site investigation had revealed the two pool make up feeds were constantly filling, the shower fittings were leaking and the cost to rectify the problems is less than £ 2,000 to save £ 35,000.
With the online monitoring system on 24/7 we will ensure maximum water savings for our clients going forward, and should there be any water losses due to underground leaks or faulty fittings then this will be identified and rectified within a few days before the losses have time to have a substantial impact on future bills.

In the case of this particular client being a large leisure swimming pool operator the projected savings across the group will be nearly £1m with a payback of an estimated 3 months.
