The fact is highly likely many companies in Scotland, England and Wales are paying anything between 14% to 18% more than they have to for water and waste water services excluding wastage, incorrect   tariffs and water leakage. The list goes on, yet if there was an announcement that water charges were to increase by 18% there would be a media, business and political outcry. There are literally tens of thousands of businesses up and down the country paying substantially more than they need to. In Scotland for instance thousands upon thousands of businesses are simply not taking advantage of the water retail market opportunities which have been in existence for over 4 years. Switch water supplier or negotiating better rates with the incumbent supplier has never been easier, yet so many businesses either through lack of knowledge or the fact they do not have any idea what they are paying for water have not taken advantage of the water retail market opportunities and are paying more than they need to.

These well known companies have already taken advantage of the discounts on offer in Scotland: –

Pizza Hut – Lookers Plc – McDonalds Restaurants – ADSA – DFS – Screwfix – Barchester Health Care – Wolseley UK  – Jewson – Jupiter Hotels – Bathstore – David Lloyd Leisure to name but a few, it is easy and here’s how.

Go to www.google.co.uk search Water Audit Expert or Water Cost Reduction and appoint a water audit expert, please DO NOT go down the share of savings route it is so 1980’s any firm worth it’s salt will not charge a % of savings going forwards if they do don’t bother you will only pay much more than you need to. Then supply billing information and within 4 days you should receive a discount offer, the whole process after approval takes 30 days to switch your water provider or stay with the incumbent and take advantage of a negotiated discount. Enjoy the discount!

When the business received the first water bill some 1 month after the switch date then further savings can be achieved, a water audit is the next stage, bearing in mind your business is already paying between 10% and 18% less.

A water audit needs to take account of the various elements of the water and waste water bill, for example in Scotland there is a property and roads drainage charge based on the value of the property, is this correct?  The water volume may be far in excess of what would be expected taking into consideration facilities on site, then there is the water meter standing charges split for water and waste water elements, this is a basic water audit in it’s simplest form but in most cases it can be a lot more complex. Your water audit expert should advise you further, you can expect further reduction on your charges of between 20% to 30% with paybacks of 3 – 9 months on average.
